Man arrested for baseball bat attack

A man suspected of attacking a 72-year-old man with a baseball bat in Prince George's County has been arrested, police said.

Justin Charles Strong, 22, of Mount Rainier, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed robbery and other charges.

The incident occurred on Sept. 15 on the 3800 block of Bladensburg Road in Colmar Manor. A man was waiting at a bus stop when Strong allegedly approached him, pulled out a knife and demanded the victim's wallet. The assailant walked away when the man refused to hand over his wallet, but he returned a short time later with an aluminum baseball bat and began attacking the victim with it, police said.

The victim suffered severe injuries.

Man arrested in deadly Southeast D.C. burglary

A man has been arrested regarding a Southeast D.C. burglary in which another burglary suspect was killed, police said.

Jaren Holley, 21, was arrested on Saturday and is charged with first-degree burglary while armed, according to D.C. police.

About 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Holley and 21-year-old Joel Johnson allegedly forced a man and woman at gunpoint into their apartment on the 4200 block of First Street SE. Once inside the apartment, a struggle ensued and Johnson was fatally shot, police said.

NFL player's brother dies in Va. crash

The 19-year-old brother of Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith was killed in a motorcycle crash in Virginia, police said.

The crash occurred late Saturday night on Route 672 Chatham Lane, about half a mile west of Route 645 Zacata Road in Westmoreland County, Va. Tevin L. Jones, who was operating a motorcycle, ran off the road and hit a utility pole, according to Virginia State police. He died at the scene.
