Fourth Springfield-area fondling incident reported

A 15-year-old girl reported that she was grabbed from behind and fondled Tuesday night in Springfield, and police are investigating to see whether this assault and three others are related.

Tuesday's incident occurred on the 6200 block of Hibbling Avenue at about 7:15 p.m., when the girl was walking. The girl pulled away and fled, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The other three fondling cases took place last month, also in the Springfield area. In each of these similar incidents, the suspect wore a plain, red baseball cap. The perpetrator in each case was described as a Hispanic or Asian man, sometimes with a beard.

The other incidents occurred on Sept. 7, at Old Keene Mill Road and Springfield Boulevard; Sept. 18, on the 6700 block of Metropolitan Center Drive; and on Sept. 27, on the 5900 block of Erving Street.

Teen charged in fatal Prince William crash

Police say a 17-year-old girl has been charged with reckless driving after she fell asleep behind the wheel and caused a fatal crash, police said. Late Saturday night, the girl, whose name was not released because she is a juvenile, was driving southbound on Dumfries Road when her car crossed into northbound traffic and struck four vehicles, including a Mercury Marquis. The Mercury's driver, 51-year-old Qasim S. Alaway, of Fredericksburg, died the next morning.
