Suspect in College Park robberies arrested

Prince George's County police on Sunday arrested a teenager they believe is responsible for robbing two University of Maryland students and trying to rob another, while armed, on Oct. 10 in College Park.

Police arrested 17-year-old Nico Jaleel Robinson early Sunday at his home on the 9200 block of Edmonston Road in Greenbelt. Police found several items related to the robberies inside his home.

Three fires burn Prince George's homes

Prince George's County firefighters battled three separate blazes Sunday morning across the county.

Emergency workers first fought a fire that started in the basement of a two-story, single family home on the 5200 block of Palco Place in College Park about 1 a.m. The fire quickly spread through the next two floors and did $50,000 worth of damage, Prince George's County fire department spokesman Mark Brady said in a statement. Investigators believe the home's furnace may have caused the fire.

The second fire brought firefighters to a two-story, single family home on the 12800 block of Peachleaf Court in Upper Marlboro. Firefighters extinguished the blaze that started in the basement about 3 a.m. While searching the house, they found an unconscious and burned woman. The woman is now in a local hospital, where she is listed in critical condition, Brady said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The morning's third fire happened about 8:30 a.m. on the 3500 block of Windom Road in Hyattsville. Firefighters found a three-story, garden style apartment building ablaze, with flames reaching the second and third floors. Crews extinguished the fire within 15 minutes.

Investigators believe a space heater caused the fire.
