Body found in burnt Falls Church home

A body was found in a Falls Church home that had been completely engulfed in a fire, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue officials said.

About 4:05 a.m. Monday, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue units went to the single-family, Cape-Cod style home, located at 6608 Orland St. There was an overwhelming volume of fire throughout the house, and the second floor collapsed inside the home, officials said.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 20 minutes, but the home was a complete loss.

When firefighters were digging through the home, they found a deceased body, officials said. The causes of the fire and the person's death are under investigation.

An adjacent house received minor damage from the blaze.
