Suspect in D.C. murder charged with Md. slaying

A teen charged with the murder of a cab driver in Northeast D.C. has also been charged in a Charles County slaying, sheriff's office officials said.

A warrant was obtained for Joshua Terrell Mebane, 17, charging him with first-degree murder and attempted murder for an Oct. 26 double shooting. In that incident, 40-year-old Teresa Bass was killed, and her husband was injured.

Mebane and another teen are charged with felony murder in the death of a man who was found in a burning taxi on Nov. 7. The victim had been shot in the head.

Four cut, one shot in Northeast

Four people were cut with a knife, and another person was shot about 1 a.m. Tuesday in two separate incidents in Northeast D.C.

On the 300 block of 51st Street NE, a man apparently cut his wife and three other people with a knife, police spokesman Officer Anthony Clay said.

The wife and another victim, a man, refused treatment, Clay said. Two of the victims, a man and a woman, were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The husband was arrested.

About the same time, a man was shot in the back at 19th and Gales streets in Northeast Washington, Clay said. The victim was taken to a hospital.
