As Sen. Marco Rubio R-Fla. joined Sen. Rand Paul’s nearly 13 hour filibuster last night, he quoted “The Godfather” three times during his remarks on the Senate floor.
“I actually go to the great American movie, “The Godfather,” Rubio stated, alluding to Sen. Ted Cruz’s earlier quotes from the movie “Patton.”
Here are the three quotes:
- “I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse.”
- “Fredo, you’re my older brother, and I love you. But don’t ever take sides with anyone against the Family again.”
- “A lawyer with his briefcase can steal more than 100 men with guns can steal.”
After the third quote, Rubio admitted sheepishly, “I don’t know how that is relevant to this but I thought it was a pretty good quote and I thought I’d bring it up.”
