Time for Owens to drop NFL dreams

Terrell Owens' NFL career may be over. The 38-year-old announced on Twitter on Sunday that Seattle had cut him.

"I'm no longer a Seahawk. I THANK the organization 4 the opportunity, I'm truly blessed beyond belief. My FAITH is intact & will NOT waiver," he wrote.

Owens hasn't played in the NFL since 2010 but was making an attempt at a comeback.

While the temperamental wideout will be best known for his quarterback spats, teary news conference and front-lawn workout, he's one of the best receivers of his generation.

He's sixth in career receptions (1,078), second in receiving yards (15,934) and second in receiving touchdowns (153).

While his stats are impressive, it's also hard to get past the fact that teams were reluctant to bring in Owens toward the end of his career because of his attitude. The Seahawks would have been his sixth team.

His rocky relationships with coaches and teammates must be taken into account when evaluating his career. The Hall of Fame can wait -- at least one additional year.
