Arlington County Police Detective Mohammed Tabibi was honored by Virginia State Police for helping to fight car theft.
Tabibi was presented the 2012 Mark D. DeHart Memorial Law Enforcement Award, which recognizes the one law enforcement officer who has done the most to reduce auto theft in Virginia.
Tabibi's use of a license plate reader helped find a man accused of committing a malicious assault and robbery in Fairfax County.
The award was presented at the Virginia Chapter of the International Association of Special Investigations. The annual awards are part of a cooperative program between the state police, the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles and local law enforcement agencies.
