With the NFL schedule released Thursday night, these are the dates to mark as the Redskins' most interesting games:

5. Redskins at Broncos, Oct. ?27 ?» In this Sunday afternoon game, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan makes his return to the Mile High City, where he coached from 1995 to 2008. Denver quarterback Peyton Manning is 3-1 all-time against the Redskins.

4. Eagles at Redskins, Sept. 9 »

In the season opener on Monday night, the Redskins get a first look at the fast-break offense of Chip Kelly and Michael Vick. On one hand, they'll have all preseason to prepare. On the other they'll have to study film from Oregon.

4. Giants at Redskins, Dec. 1 »

On Sunday night, as the first of two games in December against New York, this one is likely to have major implications in the NFC East. On Dec. 3, the Redskins won on Monday night over the Giants 17-16 on a fourth quarter touchdown catch by Pierre Garcon.

2. 49ers at Redskins, Nov. 25?»

In one of five scheduled night games, the most in team history, how about a Monday night shootout between football's two fastest and perhaps most dynamic quarterbacks, San Francisco's Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III?

1. Redskins at Cowboys, Oct. ?13?»

Hard to top last year's two epic national TV wins against Dallas, the 38-31 Thanksgiving Day shootout and a division-clinching 28-18 season finale. The Redskins get a schedule break here for this Sunday night game as they will be coming off a bye week.
