CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The party circuit in Charlotte Tuesday night was stymied by a lot of rain and a shortage of cabs, but BuzzFeed still managed to draw a crowd to its soiree downtown.

The main attraction was a 20-year-old tortoise named Herbie, who wandered around the party with a video camera strapped to his shell. More than one member of the Washington press corps was observed crawling on the floor, trying to snap the perfect picture of the turtle. An iguana also made an appearance.

Spotted in the middle of costume change in the lobby: CNN's Erin Burnett, who ditched her flats for five-inch heels for the party. She switched back to flats on her way out.
