GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Greenville-based Nichols Propeller Co. has launched its second towboat of 2014.
The launch of the 110-foot towboat Kathy Azlin came this past week at Mississippi Marine Corp. in the Greenville Port.
Nichols Propeller engineering supervisor Mark Nichols tells the Delta Democrat-Times (http://bit.ly/1zNB3ZA ) the boat was built for Vicksburg-based Magnolia Marine Transport.
Magnolia Marine moves petroleum products for parent company Jackson-based Ergon Inc.
The new towboat has four decks and is 32 feet wide. It can draw about nine feet of water with two 1,500 horsepower Caterpillar engines. Nichols says it has all the comforts of home.
The boat launch was the second of three Nichols Propeller plans this year.
Nichols says one was launched one earlier this year for Jantran Inc. from Rosedale.
He says another is planned for November.
