Trampoline park rules win narrow OK in Mich. House

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan lawmakers have narrowly approved rules for indoor trampoline parks where adults and kids can bounce around for a fee.

The legislation cleared the Republican-led House Tuesday on a 57-53 vote, mostly along party lines. The Senate passed the bill in the fall, so it's expected to reach Gov. Rick Snyder soon.

Trampoliners would have to maintain reasonable control of their body and keep from acting in a way that could injure others. Facilities would have to follow safety procedures and tell customers the rules in advance.

The bill was introduced at the behest of Sky Zone, a company that's opened three trampoline parks in Michigan and plans to open three more. Democrats complain the bill would offer operators too much protection against lawsuits.
