CREWE, Va. (AP) — Trout River Dry Kiln LLC plans to open a hardwood kiln operation in Nottoway County.
Gov. Terry McAuliffe says 40 jobs will be created.
McAuliffe said Wednesday in a news release that Trout River plans to invest more than $5.5 million dollars in the project. The kiln operation will be located in Crewe.
The governor says Trout River also plans to buy about 34 million board feet of lumber from Virginia sawmills over the next three years at a cost of more than $30 million.
The Governor's Agriculture and Forestry Industries Fund provided a $100,000 matching grant to Nottoway County for the project. The local match is a 5.26-acre site in the town of Crewe's industrial park that is being donated to Trout River for the project.
