Twitter users hoping to use their accounts to support an advocacy effort on behalf of "Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson --the website IStandWithPhil.com -- are being thwarted by the social media site, which has branded the petition page “spammy or unsafe.”

“We’re encouraging supporters to be heard, tweet the @support or @twitter account, and use their other means of communication to get IStandWithPhil.com back online,” said Chris Stone, Founder of Faith Driven Consumer, said in a release on the social media “shutdown.”

When the Washington Examiner tested the link in a tweet, Twitter blocked the message on the grounds that “a URL in your tweet appears to contain a link to a page that has spammy or unsafe content.”

Google Diagnostics does not regard the page as “spammy or unsafe,” according to FDC.

Stone said FDC, which launched the petition page, has acquired 200,000 supporters over the last four days.
