Two people are dead and one is in the hospital after four motorcycles crashed into one another on I-70 near Hagerstown, shutting down the road for four-and-a-half hours on Saturday afternoon.

Police said a group of motorcycles were traveling eastbound near Indian Springs when one driver slowed his bike for an unknown reason.

This caused two other drivers to run into the back of the first bike and striking another. One of the drivers, Mark B. Stephens, 23, of Falling Waters, W.V., and his passenger Megan R. Daymude, 19, of Inwood, W.V., died, while another rider, Mark D. Stephens, 46, of Falling Waters, W.V., was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
