Two firefighters were injured while responding to a house fire in Springfield on Wednesday, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue officials said.

The roof and attic of a two-story single-family home on Etta Drive caught fire at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, officials said. Firefighters initially attempted to put the fire out from the second floor but had to leave the house after the roof collapsed. Two firefighters sustained non-life-threatening injuries on-scene and were transported to local hospitals, officials said. An adult occupant of the house was inside when the fire began but escaped with no injuries. He and two other occupants of the house were displaced, officials said.

Officials estimated damages at about $320,000.

Investigators determined the fire was an accidental electrical fire that began near the attic fan.
