Two people were injured early Sunday morning in an incident where 19 shots were fired at a Hyattsville gas station, according to police.

The shooting occurred just before 3 a.m. at the Shell station on the 5300 block of Queens Chapel Road, police said. A man leaving his car was shot in the stomach and buttocks by an occupant of a dark-colored compact car that had been driving around the parking lot.

Another victim, a woman believed to have been hit with stray bullets while she was paying for gas, drove herself to the hospital and was treated, police said. Neither person suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police said the shooting was not random and as of Sunday afternoon were trying to determine if an earlier altercation had occurred.
