Detectives are investigating two separate slayings that occurred this weekend in Southeast D.C.

Shortly after 7:45 p.m. Saturday, housing police were called to the 5000 block of Ayers Place SE. They found a man in a vehicle, unresponsive and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, D.C. police spokesman Officer Paul Metcalf said. The victim was pronounced dead by a member of the medical examiner's office.

D.C. police were called to the second incident, in the 3400 block of Croffut Place SE, shortly after midnight Sunday. A man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Metcalf said.

Suspect information was not available for either homicide.
