Two people were rescued from a Northeast D.C. fire and taken to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.
The fire occurred Sunday afternoon on the second floor of a two-story, single-family home in the 100 block of 50th Street NE. D.C. Fire and EMS personnel pulled a 70-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man from the home and then took them to hospitals, fire spokesman Lon Walls said.
It took firefighters about 15 to 20 minutes to extinguish the flames, Walls said.
Police and firefighters are investigating to determine the cause of the fire. A police spokesman said that on Sunday, authorities were investigating the fire as suspicious.
