Two women died in a car crash on Interstate 66 early Friday morning, according to Virginia State Police.

The car veered off the road near the Fairfax County Parkway and struck a tree. The two women, both passengers in the vehicle, were killed, while the male driver suffered minor injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating why the vehicle left the road. Alcohol was not a factor, according to authorities.
