A fiery protest continued into early Wednesday morning in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev after a day of brutal violence that left 18 people dead in street clashes between police and anti-government protesters. Late Tuesday night, thousands of police armed with stun grenades and water cannons charged into a large opposition camp that has been the epicenter of nearly three months of protests after the deadly street violence erupted. Police officials said that 18 people, including seven police officers, were confirmed dead in the clashes. Ukrainian officials said 159 police and military officers have been sent to hospitals with injuries, including 39 of them with gunshot wounds.
