MEAD, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska ranchers can get some expert advice later this month on the best ways to raise cattle in the midst of an ongoing drought.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension is sponsoring the Jan. 31 event at university facilities near Mead.

The workshop will include session on managing pastures, options for managing cow herds in drought and the use of pasture insurance.

The daylong event costs $60. That fee covers the cost of educational materials and lunch.

Anyone interested in the Mid-Plains Beef workshop should contact their county extension office.
