RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia screenwriters have a little more than two weeks to submit their scripts for a competition sponsored by the Virginia Film Office.

The annual Virginia Screenwriting Competition was created to give the state's screenwriters a forum for their work and an opportunity to present it to movie and television professionals. There is no entry fee, and all entries receive a written evaluation from the first-round judges. Scripts must contain either Virginia locations or locations that could be reasonably expected to be found in the state.

Previous winners include "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan, who won in 1989 for his screenplay "Home Fries," and Megan Holley, who won in 2003 for "Sunshine Cleaning."

The deadline for entries is May 23. Additional details are available at http://www.filmvirginia.org .
