RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia will receive more than $19 million in federal funding for fish and wildlife conservation and recreation projects.

The funding comes from excise taxes on sales of sporting firearms, ammunition, archery equipment, fishing equipment and tackle, and electric outboard motors. It also includes revenue from fuel taxes on motorboats and small engines.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services' Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Program will provide nearly $14 million to Virginia. The state will receive more than $5 million from the agency's Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Program.

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell announced the funding Tuesday in a news release.
