Va. traffic crackdown nets 2,412 violations

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A traffic enforcement effort targeting Interstates 81 and 95 yielded more than 2,400 violations.

Virginia State Police say troopers cited motorists on I-81 for 1,073 violations during the Operation Air, Land and Speed crackdown on Saturday. The violations included two drunken driving arrests, four drug or felony arrests, 692 speeding citations, 105 reckless driving citations and 30 seat belt violations.

Troopers also arrested two drunken drivers on Interstate 95, along with eight people for drug or felony violations. A total 1,339 citations were issued on I-95, including 487 for speeding, 207 for reckless driving and 61 for seat belt violations.
