NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — A Norfolk woman faces charges of failing to seek medical aid for her newborn daughter following a home birth.

The Norfolk Police Department says 39-year-old Angela Marie Janecka was arrested Wednesday on attempted murder and felony child neglect charges.

Police say the baby didn't have any visible injuries when fire and rescue personnel responded to a medical emergency at the residence on Aug. 25. But the infant and Janecka needed medical assistance.

The infant was placed in the custody of Chlid Protective Services.

Police said no other details will be released at this time. The investigation is continuing.
