Senior BJP leader, Lal Krishna Advani Monday held that Atal Bihari Vajpayee's six years as prime minister were better for India's development than the long rule of Congress' prime ministers Jawaharal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. Advani said while addressing election meetings in Bihar's Banka and Katihar parliamentary constituencies, "Vajpayee's tenure as Prime Minister was best ever." Visiting Bihar for the first time to campaign for BJP candidates during ongoing Lok Sabha polls, he did not directly target Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Advani claimed that Nehru and Indira Gandhi developed the country at a cost.
