"Veep" actor Matt Walsh was spotted doing a little character research last week at a Capitol Hill reception toasting the 12 newly-elected veterans to Congress.

The veterans charity Got Your 6, known for its star-studded events at this year's political conventions, brought together Walsh, "Veep" executive producer Chris Godsick, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and congressional freshmen with military service on their resumes including, Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii and Thomas Cotton, R-Ark.

The group gathered Wednesday night at a private residence. A Yeas & Nays source spoke to Walsh who said besides supporting the charity, he attends Washington parties to help him with his character, Mike McClintock, the communications director to Julia Louis-Dreyfus' vice president.

Season two of the HBO political comedy show will drop in 2013.
