DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The campaign for Democratic President Barack Obama says Vice President Joe Biden will speak at an event in Council Bluffs later this week.

Obama's campaign announced Tuesday that Biden will be at the Mid-America Center on Thursday afternoon and will discuss the president's plan "to restore middle-class economic security."

The Republican vice presidential nominee, Paul Ryan, is holding events Tuesday in Clinton, Muscatine and Burlington in eastern Iowa.

Thousands of Iowans already have begun casting ballots, thanks to the state's early voting laws.
