CARY, N.C. (AP) — The wife of Vice President Joe Biden is in North Carolina encouraging female supporters of President Barack Obama and her husband to work hard in the campaign's final 3½ weeks.

Jill Biden was slated to visit Obama for America campaign offices Saturday in Cary, Greensboro and south Charlotte. The campaign says she'll attend Women for Obama-Biden canvass kickoff events and urge on campaign volunteers.

Mrs. Biden is yet another notable seeking to influence the campaign in battleground North Carolina.

The vice president visited Asheville and Charlotte last week. Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was in Asheville for a rally on Thursday night.
