The tensions in Ferguson, Mo., remained high overnight as 31 were arrested as protestors continued to clash with police over the death of unarmed black teen Michael Brown.

Police reported that two people were shot, however not by authorities. Police said they didn't fire any shots at protestors despite coming under heavy fire throughout the night.

Missouri Highway Patrol Capt. Ron Johnson said there is a small group of people inciting violence and using the large crowds and overnight hours to cause problems. He added the protests throughout the day in Ferguson were peaceful.

Tuesday morning's violence occurred during the first day the Missouri National Guard was on hand to assist local and state authorities.
