The U.S. House of Representatives failed to pass the Farm Bill today, with a final vote of 195-234.

When the final vote was gaveled out by the chair, cheers were heard on the floor of the house celebrating the bill’s death.

Democrats opposed the $940 billion bill because it included cuts for food stamps, while Republicans thought that the bill didn’t cut enough.

Nearly 80 percent of the bill’s funding was directed towards food stamps.
