Gillespie, who is challenging Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., in November, said lowering the corporate tax rate will ultimately lead to more jobs in the Commonwealth. He also said there needs to be a higher priority on appropriately budgeting for defense. According to Gov. Terry McAuliffe, D-Va., Virginia will face a $2.4 billion budget shortfall due in large part to sequestration cuts.
Gillespie is trailing Warner by double digits, according to the most recent polling.
