In a 7-4 vote along party lines Thursday, the House Committee on Rules approved a resolution to sue the President Obama "for failing to faithfully execute the law." The measure still faces a vote in the full House.

Speaker of the House John Boehner formally announced plans to sue the president earlier this month, claiming the president had overstepped his constitutional authority by using an executive order to delay the Affordable Care Act's employer mandate.

According to a
CNN/ORC poll released Friday, a strong majority of Americans -- 57 percent to 41 percent -- say House Republicans should not sue the president.
