The top two Democratic candidates for Maryland governor, Anthony Brown and Doug Gansler, posted strong fundraising numbers this past week. The men are running a tight race ahead of the state's June 24 primary. One of the two is expected to succeed term-limited Democratic incumbent Gov. Martin O'Malley as the state lacks a serious Republican threat.
Both candidates have faced problems during the campaign. Brown, the current lieutentant governor and current frontrunner, has had to answer questions about the state's much-reported failed heath care exchanges while Gansler, the current attorney general, has failed to close the gap between himself and Brown during the race.
