During his final campaign rally in Iowa last night, President Obama wiped away tears as he recalled the long political journey to his presidency that began in Iowa. (The Associated Press released a photo of the tear last night)

Praising his supporters who “breathed the hard work of change,” Obama reminded them of their accomplishments.

“You picked us up when we needed a lift and your faces gave me new hope for this country’s future,” he said. And your stories filled me with resolve to fight for you every single day I set foot in the oval office. You inspired us.”

“When the cynics said we couldn’t, you said, 'Yes, we can.'” Obama added.
