White House press secretary Josh Earnest discussed what to expect in Ferguson, Mo., now that shooting victim Michael Brown has been laid to rest.

The White House says the Justice Department's investigation will take place at the same time as local authorities' investigation.

"It's in the interest of citizens across the country for this investigation to be conducted — both the federal and local investigation — to be conducted in a fair, professional and impartial manner," Earnest said at Monday's White House briefing.

Brown's funeral took place Monday morning in Missouri with thousands of people in attendance, including three White House representatives and the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Earnest said the White House wants to ensure justice is served.
