(SOT: Yoel Benon, deputy director of security at Kerem Shalom crossing)

HOWEVER _ ISRAEL CONTINUED HITTING AT SELECTED PALESTINIAN TARGETS.

SHORTLY AFTER THE CEASE-FIRE WENT INTO EFFECT TWO ISRAELI MISSILES STRUCK A BEACH HOUSE NEAR GAZA CITY, KILLING ONE PERSON AND LEAVING UP TO 20 MISSING.

THE ISLAMIC JIHAD SAYS ONE OF ITS COMMANDERS WAS KILLED IN A STRIKE ON HIS HOME.

AN ATTACK ON AN ISRAELI BUS THAT KILLED ONE PERSON, AND LATER THE ATTACKER, IN JERUSALEM UNDERSCORES THE TENSIONS STILL SIMMERING IN THE REGION.
