Virginia adds former N.C. State coach Tom O’Brien to staff

University of Virginia coach Mike London has added former North Carolina State and Boston College head coach Tom O’Brien to his staff. O’Brien will serves as associate head coach for offense and tight ends coach.

Also added to the staff are 32-year coaching veteran Jon Tenuta, who will be defensive coordinator, and 12-year college assistant Jeff Banks, who will be special teams coordinator. Former Virginia quarterback Marques Hagans will assume a full-time assistant job after serving as a grad assistant the last two seasons.

Tenuta is a Virginia graduate and O’Brien, a Naval Academy grad, was an assistant for the Cavaliers for 16 years under George Welch, rising to the post of offensive coordinator.
