The Virginia Department of Transportation plans to use the funding on maintenance of Interstates 95 and 85 in the Richmond area and Interstate 264 in Hampton Roads, though the Commonwealth Transportation Board will have to give final approval for those projects.
The money was supposed to go to other states, but because those states did not have projects ready for the funding the Federal Highway Administration shifted the funds to Virginia, McDonnell said.
