Former President Ronald Reagan's 103rd birthday on Thursday is being ignored in Virginia, where newly-installed Gov. Terry McAuliffe joined just 12 other governors nationwide in refusing a request to proclaim Feb. 6 “Ronald Reagan Day.”

The Ronald Reagan Legacy Project, founded by Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist, said that 37 other governors, including eight Democrats, notably Maryland's Martin O'Malley, California's Jerry Brown and New York's Andrew Cuomo, issued proclamations to honor the Gipper.

The project is responsible for drawing attention to Reagan and his legacy by, for example, naming landmarks after him such as a mountaintop in Nevada.

Norquist said, "Ronald Reagan led America forward to defeat the threats to our prosperity of high taxes, inflation, and recession at home and a surging Soviet Empire abroad. He left America stronger, freer, and safer than the day he became president."
