Virginia spent nearly $3.3 million to clear roads of snow dumped on parts of the Commonwealth during Superstorm Sandy.

The Virginia Department of Transportation was forced to spend part of its $145 million snow removal budget earlier than expected to remove as much as two feet of snow. The agency spent just half of its snow removal budget last winter.
