A Virginia State Police trooper was injured in a collision in Fairfax County, police said.

About 6:15 p.m. Monday, the driver of a 2007 Corvette lost control of his vehicle when he was coming through the eastbound I-66 ramp to southbound Route 286. The Corvette spun around and T-boned the state trooper's patrol car in the driver's side, according to Virginia State Police. The impact then spun the patrol car off the road.

The trooper was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries, police said. The Corvette's driver, a Burke resident, was not injured.

The Associated Press reported that the Corvette's driver was traveling too fast for the wet road. Charges are pending.

Virginia State Police troopers have been busy as of late because of Hurricane Sandy. From Sunday through 6 a.m. Tuesday, troopers in the state responded to 2,549 traffic crashes and disabled vehicles and received a total of 4,605 service calls.
