The new Golf A7 moves to the VW Group's MQB platform, which will underpin almost every new Volkswagen from here on out. Light, scalable, interchangeable and infinitely flexible, VW has bet the proverbial farm on the mega-platform. It will spread its way into everything from the Passat to the Audi A3 and A4, with a total of 40 vehicles across the group and across the world. Volkswagen spent $70 billion and four years developing the MQB. Expect the company to recoup its investment in the next four -- if all goes to plan and there aren't any, say, widespread recalls, which could be on a global scale.
