CHARLESTON, Tenn. (AP) — Wacker Chemie is delaying completion of its $1.5 billion Bradley County polysilicon plant by 18 months.

WRCB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/XTmctE) the news came in the company's third quarter report, released this week.

The report blames the delay on high inventory and weak demand pushing down prices for silicon wafers. That's the primary product planned to be produced at the Charleston facility.

Company officials had earlier said the plant could be complete in 2013. The company says it now plans to start production at the new plant by mid-2015.
