A Walmart employee was shot in a parking lot outside the Laurel store where he works, officials said.
Around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, emergency personnel went to the Walmart in the 3500 block of Russett Green East in Laurel.
According to an initial investigation, the shooter entered the Walmart, approached the employee and demanded money from the store. After the employee turned over money, the robber forced him outside and later shot him in the upper body, Anne Arundel County police officials said.
The employee, a 28-year-old man, was taken to a trauma center with non-life threatening injuries.
The shooter is described as a white male who was wearing a dark mask, black pants, a black jacket and a gray or white sweatshirt with a hood. He fled the scene in a dark-colored van, which was found on fire at Hammerstone Road and Mayaone Street in Laurel.
