OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Golden State Warriors have signed first-round pick Harrison Barnes.

The team announced Tuesday that the former North Carolina small forward signed his rookie contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Considered the top recruit in the country when he left his Iowa high school for North Carolina two years ago, Barnes led the Tar Heels with 17.1 points per game and also grabbed 5.2 rebounds last season. The Warriors drafted the 6-foot-8 small forward seventh overall last week.

The 20-year-old Barnes is expected to compete with Dorell Wright for the starting small forward spot. Barnes also is planning to play for the Warriors summer league team in Las Vegas.
