PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A documentary that goes behind the scenes of WaterFire and explores how the iconic event has helped transform downtown Providence is set to hold its premiere.

The hour-long film by Joe Rocco, a former local broadcast journalist, is called "WaterFire: Art and Soul of a City."

It includes interviews with WaterFire creator Barnaby Evans, volunteers, historians, fans and others.

Crews did extensive filming of the bonfire installations over the summer. The documentary also includes video of a special WaterFire staged in Italy in September.

WaterFire is the city's biggest tourist draw and has been viewed by millions of people.

The nonprofit arts organization says Providence Mayor Angel Taveras (tuh-VEHR'-us) and former Mayor Buddy Cianci are expected to attend the Saturday night screening at The Vets.
