WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) — Watertown is the latest South Dakota city to ban texting while driving.

KWAT and KXLG radio report that the City Council voted 6-3 on Monday night to adopt the ordinance. The ban also forbids drivers to email, instant message and access the Internet while behind the wheel.

A violation carries a maximum punishment of 30 days in jail and a $200 fine.

Sioux Falls and Huron have similar bans.
