Wendy Davis is super popular --- just not in Texas

Wendy Davis, darling of the abortion-loving wing of the Democratic party, has quite a following - just not in Texas, where she's running for governor.

Davis is currently trailing her Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, by 11 points, according to the latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll. That gap has widened from 6 points in October, following news that Davis fudged her life story.

Even worse is that 27 percent of the money Davis raised in the last filing quarter came from donors outside Texas, compared to just 2 percent of Abbott’s total.

Davis raised a little more than Abbott during that period, but a nice chunk – at least 8 percent – of her funding came from pro-abortion groups, including Planned Parenthood.

But being known for her aggressive abortion stance alone won’t rocket Davis to the governor’s mansion, especially since Texas isn’t exactly leading the charge for so-called abortion rights.

That realization most likely led to Davis' waffling on the issue of whether to outlaw abortions beyond 20 weeks. First, Davis filibustered a bill that would ban such abortions, then she said she'd support such a ban and then she swore her position never changed.

You can imagine how Texas voters could be too confused to know what she stands for.
